A very important message from the Doctor:

helpfromthedoctor:

Hello, everybody. I’ve been thinking about doing something, and I’ve finally decided I’m going to do it.

I’m going to - well, I’m not quite sure how to say it - I’m going to retire.

Now, I’m not going to retire from traveling time and space - the universe is beautiful, and I still haven’t seen it all - nor am I going to retire from personally saving it - there’s got to be someone to do that, and it seems like I’m the only one who can.

But I am retiring from answering questions. I - I’m sorry I have to do that, but it’s been increasingly hard for me to tell people what to do with their own problems. I think I’ve lost the ability to know what to say.

There are other people, though. There are other people who can listen to your questions and give you answers and give you hope and love. In fact, in my travels, I’ve met two people in particular who seem eager to help other people - a nice man from a town called Night Vale and a green-blooded girl from a planet called Alternia. You can go to them, if they mean anything to you, and you can go your friends or other people who have spent their time learning to help people (as opposed to how I just sort of picked it up from centuries of learning about everything). They’ll help you. Promise.

I’m so sorry for not being able to do that anymore. But I want you all to know you were wonderful. You’re all beautiful, wonderful human beings, and I feel so lucky that I was able to help everyone I helped. You were fantastic. All of you. And you know what? I like to think that so was I.

((OOC: Yes. I’m leaving Help From The Doctor. I MIGHT possibly come back someday, but it doesn’t seem likely. The reason ultimately boils down to the fact that I’ve lately been unable to give help in-character as the Doctor. That is, I’m not able to say the sorts of things he would say. I can’t make myself say the kinds of things he would say anymore.

((However, I still like helping people, and I still want to use the beauty of fandom to do it. To that end, I’m running a blog, helpfromcecil, which is in-character as Cecil Palmer from Welcome to Night Vale. Furthermore, another blogger is running a blog, helpfromkanayamaryam, which follows the same idea only as Kanaya Maryam from Homestuck.

((It’s been a beautiful experience, and I know I’m going to look very fondly upon the days I spent maintaining this blog and helping so many people. What the Doctor said in that last paragraph goes for me, too. I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity.

((Thank you, all of you, and goodbye.))

I suffer from clinical depression, but it goes untreated because my mother doesn't believe in mental illnesses. She claims that they are just another reason for children to be lazy.

Try and get help somewhere else, my darling. Talk to your school counselor and tell them exactly what you just told me. They are there to help you. Or, the next time you go to your doctor, tell them. Just keep telling people until someone steps up to help you. Don’t give up <3
